Cora's Pie Crust

A simple pie crust recipe from the turn of the century

Ingredients
  

  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp baking powder scant
  • ½ cup butter or butter and lard/drippings mixed
  • ¼ cup cold water

Instructions
 

  • Sift all the dry ingredients together.
  • Cut in your butter/fats while they are cold.
  • Moisten with as little cold water as possible.
  • If you are not baking the crust with your pie filling, bake it in a 400° oven for about 30 minutes, until golden brown.
